Irony is probably one of the most misused literary technique ever.
For an example, check out Alanis Morissette’s song “Ironic” (included in this post).
In this video, comedian Ed Byrnes discusses the irony of this song.

These protestors were protesting (for lack of a better word) a dangerous crossing in one neighborhood.
What’s so ironic about this? There was a car crash during the protest.
