Does a falling object continue to move at the same rate once it is released?

I love a good Rube Goldberg machine, and today, I bring you one from a software designer named Joseph Herscher.
The task of the machine was to smash a Cadbury egg, but unfortunately, he didn’t win. It took him about 6 months to make.
