At #5 on my list is a fairly obvious choice for my Top 10; it’s Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Metroid has always managed to deliver immersive gameplay, whether it is in the form of sidescrollers or first-person shooters. Fans were skeptical at first when Prime was announced for the GameCube. Luckily, not only did Retro Studios manage to pull it off, they also created a game that was placed alongside the GCN elite. Can they do it again? Mitchell, says yes.

Nintendo has stated several times that the Wiimote’s purpose is to act as an extension of the player’s arm / canon. Needless to say, expectations for Corruption are very high. The 360’s lineup of shooters are tough to contend with. Can Metroid Prime 3 hold a candle to Gears of War? We’ll find out sometime next year.

For now, click below to enjoy the Metroid Prime 3 trailer.

#6 is a game that is widely unheard of; even more so than Day of Crisis.

No More Heroes will be set in a free roaming GTA-like environment, and will involve you mercilessly killing a lot of people with your “beam katana.” So, what makes it unique?

The visuals, that’s what. It’s pretty clear by now that the Wii cannot compete with the 360 or PS3. However, innovation comes in many forms, and graphics is certainly one of them. No More Heroes sports an awesome cel-shaded look that immediately sets it apart from every other game for the Wii, or even the 360/PS3 for that matter. In addition to this, No More Heroes will also make use of the Wiimote for its sword mechanics, and naturally, this is something that gamers will be clamoring to try out in the wake of Red Steel.

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all got everything on your list!

At #7 on my countdown is a very little-known game for the Wii, but from what I’ve seen so far, it looks fantastic. Disaster: Day of Crisis centers around a man by the name of Ray, who is on the run from mother nature herself. Amidst the erupting volcanoes, tsunamis, tremors, and falling buildings is a corrupt Special Forces unit, trying to seize a nuclear weapon, and in addition to keeping himself alive, he has to stop them.

Judging from what was shown of the game at Nintendo World, it seems players will control Ray from a third-person perspective, while trudging through unfriendly elements of nature. Some of the visuals shown for this game so far look like true next-gen quality graphics and are truly amazing. Nintendo’s been talking about the physics and the visuals of the game for a long time now, so lets hope it lives up to the hype.

Hey everyone. I hope your all having a great Christmas Eve.

Number 8 on my countdown is the continuation of a 15 year old franchise; the one that single handedly created my love of video games. Sonic and the Secret Rings, formerly known as Sonic Wild Fire, involves Sonic diving into the world of the Arabian Nights to retrieve lost chapters of the book. The game uses the Wiimote’s motion-sensing capabilities to a large extent, and will allow players to string together or combine several different moves. One of the unique aspects of the game is that you can’t stop moving. Sonic, will, at all times be moving either forward or backwards to add a sense of speed to the game.

The last few Sonic games haven’t been very impressive (I’m looking at you, Shadow the Hedgehog), so let’s see if Sega can live up to the hype behind Secret Rings, so we can tell where the franchise is headed on the Wii. The current US release date is slated at March 6th, 2007.

At #9 is The Sims for the Wii. I’m a pretty big fan of The Sims for the PC, but I was a bit taken at the animation style for this one. As it stands, The Sims is set to be the 2nd game to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for online play.

The Sims’ franchise has a very reputable history and people will trust their guts if they see it on the shelves. It should be a big one for the Wii.

Hey everyone. From now until December 31st, I will be posting my list of the top 10 upcoming Wii games for the new year.

Coming in at #10 is a gaming franchise that is as popular now as it was 10 years ago. Pokemon Battle Revolution is the latest installment of the long-standing series. No, I personally am NOT a fan of Pokemon, however, there are 2 very good reasons why I chose Battle Revolution for this list; and they are both firsts.

Pokemon Battle Revolution will be the first Wii game to feature DS-Wii connection AND it will also be the first Wii game to allow players to go head-to-head online VIA the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Both of these are of utmost importance to Nintendo’s future, especially since Microsoft has a huge lead in the online gaming community with Xbox Live.

Like it or not, the Legend of Zelda is credited for pioneering many video game play mechanics still used to this day. In GameTrailers’ Legend of Zelda finale, they go all out to try to give us their theory of the Zelda timeline. The result is interesting, enlightening….and VERY confusing.

Zelda fans, prepare to nerd-out one last time.

Just to let people know, this is just a fan made video. None the less, it gives us a glimpse of a potentially great sequel to one of the best games to come out for the Sega Saturn, and one of the best Sonic Team games of all time. The end of the trailer states that the game would be, in theory, for the Xbox 360. However, as you can see by the fan-made box art I chose, I feel that NiGHTS 2 and its controls would be much better suited to the Nintendo Wii.

humping usb dogThere are a number of weird USB drives (or flash drive…or thumb drive), but this one tops all of them.

If your USB drive does not hump your computer, it’s just not worth it. Yes, hump. As in move.
