“I’m telling you, you match her description to a T! I’ll take you down there and I’m sure she will identify you.”
“Alright then.” Gordon responded, knowing he didn’t do anything wrong.
The cop opened the back door of the car and Gordon sat inside, but not before giving Darell and I a puzzled look, which I’m sure we responded with as well. The cop then switched into reverse and drove backwards down the road.
Me and Darell were mystified at this point. I turned to him and said
“I know what’s going to happen. The cop is going to take him out of the car, it will be a negative ID, and we’ll be on our way.”
Just then, Brian came towards us flashing the note in his hand. He went up to us when I said,
“Well, the notes all fine and good, but Gordon just got arrested.”
We watched as Gordon got taken out of the car. He wasn’t taken up the driveway. He told us later that the cop didn’t need to; the lady opened her door and shook her head, telling the cop that he had the wrong man. However, the cop refused to lose pride on the matter, and kept Gordon with him for further questioning.
Finally, after giving him his information, the cop let Gordon go. But not before saying one final thing.
“You look like your dressed to do something bad.”
It seems that the hoodie Gordon was wearing; the one he wears almost every day; is what lead the policeman to suspect him. We walked back to the school laughing about the ordeal, but we were left to wonder.
Is it a crime to wear a hoodie?
