December 22nd, 2006 - 12:15pm
Me and my friends were planning on leaving for the second half of school, since we figured that the dance that afternoon was going to be a drag. Darell’s dad was going to be picking us up at 1:15pm, right after lunch. One of my friend’s, Brian, forgot to get written permission, so when the lunch bell rang, we began the 15 minute walk to get to his mother’s work to get the permission needed.
December 22nd, 2006 - 12:30pm
We arrived at the workplace and Brian went inside to get the note. Darell, Gordon and I waited outside for him to return. Darell and Gordon began talking and I turned to look around when I saw an unmarked police car driving slowly towards us. He pulled to within about 10 feet before coming to a stop and getting out of his car. He called Gordon towards him.
“Where are the other two?” the cop asked.
“Well, I’m Gordon. There’s Michael and Darell over there and Brian’s inside.” Gordon replied.
“Who’s Brian?” the cop asked.
“Uhh…a friend of mine.” Gordon replied.
“I see. A lady down the street has identified you as the person seen running from her backyard, possibly holding a stolen item. She also said that two other people were involved.” the cop said.
“When did this happen?” Gordon asked.
“About 15 minutes ago. She identified you to a T.”
Gordon then tried to explain that we had left the school 15 minutes ago, so it was impossible for us to have done anything. But the cop wouldn’t have any of it.
