You know, he might have a point if context didn’t exist. Almost everything this guy mentions is taken the wrong way and completely out of context. Let’s start with Luke 18 and the “Sell everything” comment. First off, it’s a ruler who asks Jesus how to go to heaven. He was incredibly rich and even though he kept these commandments, he was probably not right with God. Jesus says “For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” Luke 18:25. If this man wasn’t willing to sell everything he had for the Lord then he had no place in his Kingdom. And following Jesus? Jesus decided to make this man a disciple, ensuring the rulers spot in heaven. He didn’t have to do this to be saved but it probably was the best thing for him. People do NOT have to be disciples of Jesus to enter the kingdom of Heaven.
Now on Hate. When Jesus useses it in these verses, the word does not justify malice or ill will toward one’s family, but it means that devotion to family must take second place to one’s devotion to Christ. Once again, you do not have to be a disciple to go to heaven but you should put God first. During this time Jesus is explaining how difficult it will be for the life of a disciple.
Eating the flesh and drinking the blood of Christ is not literal and doesn’t hint anything Satanic by any means. Just as people eat and drink in order to have physical life, so it is necessary to follow Christ in order to have eternal life. Thats all it means. There is no time when you have to eat flesh or drink blood, it’s just a parable.
To become like a child in Matthew 18: 2-3, we have to look before and after the isolated quote. Chapter 18: 1 states “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”" Jesus tells them to become like children because “Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18: 4. It’s just about humbling yourself which this guy seems to completely ignore.
Born again means to be born again in Christ. If you have a desire to be like christ and truly strive to do so then you have been born again. For thoes who believe later in life, the moment your born again is when you decide to repent from your sinful ways and try to follow the path of righteousness. Thoes born from Christ will go to heaven while thoes born from Adam will not.
As far as the Pharisees go, to be more of a righteous person then them is not hard at all. They were rebuked and were not righteous in the least! Following 613 rules is not required, in fact don’t do it! They also certainly don’t define “righteousness” because the laws of the pharisees were not the laws of Christ.
You know everyone picks what they want to believe in but if someone wants to try and disprove the bible then at least know what your talking about. To any person who doesn’t read the bible, the video could have actually been believable.
