When I was in school (okay, high school), I remember teachers complaining about parents who complained everything about their kids.

“Why did my kid receive 40?”

“Well, it seemed obvious that he didn’t know the material, Mrs. Smith.”

“What do you expect? He was out all night drinking? Please be a little more sympathetic and give me at least a 90.”

“Mrs. Smith, I can’t do that. Your child is about to go to college, and I’m giving him a taste of the real world.”

“Either go into your gradebook and change his grades or make your stuff a little easier. It’s not that hard.”

“Die.”

You’d think that when these kids go to college, their parents would back off and let their kids know what decision-making, responsibilities, and consequences are, but things don’t always go as you planned. Professors at the University of Florida speaks out about these protective parents.
