After reading this article, I have come to the conclusion that anyone can pass classes at Buffalo high schools in New York. In fact, you don’t even have to come to school to pass.
A new policy at Buffalo high schools is that if you maintain an 80 average the first half of the school year, you can skip the rest of the year and still pass. At my school, the only skipping that’s allowed is during final exams of second semester, which are the last 3 days of school, and that’s only available to seniors. In Buffalo, you can be a freshman and still do this.
Another thing that makes this district so sleazy is that the lowest grade given is a 50. So basically, not doing your work is like doing half the work at most schools. The passing grade is not that much higher, either: 65.
