A letter inviting a friend to lunch has finally arrived - 56 years late.

The letter was posted in London to a George Green during March 1950 by a woman who signed it ‘Gwen’.
According to The Sun she writes: “George, will meet at Monty’s next weekend. Is 2pm acceptable? Love Gwen.”
The letter arrived at Cambridge University’s Trinity College.
Telephonist Patricia Kirwan said: “We laughed when we saw how long it had taken to get here. It just turned up with all the other post. We had to open it.
“It’s possible that George was a student but we don’t know what Monty’s was or whether or not they ever got to meet.”
The Royal Mail’s James Taylor said: “A postmark shows it has been through the system so it must have been put back again recently. It may have been sent to a wrong address.”
