What’s the fastest rollercoaster that you’ve ever been on? Did it take up up to 420 feet before accelerating you to 120 miles per hour? Prolly not, but there is a rollercoaster in Cedar Point, Ohio that does exactly that. Here are some pictures:

Okay, some facts about the Top Thrill Dragster. It has a track length of 2,800 feet. It takes you up to 420 feet before accelerating you to about 120 miles per hour. The angle of lift and angle of descent are exactly 90 degrees (straight up), and the vertical drop is 400 feet. The angle of twist on descent is 270 degrees. It was manufactured by Intamin AG of Wollerau in Switzerland, and it has a steel tubular track. It uses a hydraulic launch system and a magnetic braking system. It has six 18-passenger trains with 5 cars on each train. It uses fiberglass and steel coaches with individual lap bars, interlocking seat belts and padded head restraint systems. It’s the first roller coaster EVER to top 400 feet and the first EVER to reach speeds of 120 mph. It’s also the first “strata-coaster” built on planet Earth. All this for about $25 million.

yeah, i was there two summers ago, well because i lived in ohio till 7…
well i always go there when i go up ohio, and we went and the line was 4 hours long, and we were like, pfft, we’re not waiting that long to stay in a coaster that closes down every 10 minutes (it was back when the cable shards fell off, like the weekend after and they would open it for 10 minutse then close it down for 10 minutes)
so we went to millenium force (bout 90 minutes-an hour wait)
we are on the next coaster and it started raining.
that sucked.
but anyways, yeah.. the top thrill dragster was really scary to look at (imagining that your riding it), but it was pretty sweet:smile:

yea Kingda Ka is 8 MPH faster and 36 feet taller and has an extra hill at the end of the ride. It’s acceleration is also stronger. 128 in 3.5 seconds as opposed to 120 in 4 seconds. Yeah that’s right.
